New Delhi, 17th April.
The Bengal Governor, CV Ananda Bose, has been cautioned by the Election Commission to cancel his planned visit to Cooch Behar in North Bengal on April 18 and 19.

The Commission highlighted that the first phase of elections is scheduled for April 19, and with the 48-hour silence period starting this evening, the visit would breach the Model Code of Conduct.

It is a standard directive from the Commission that once the silent period commences, VIPs, leaders, and political workers who are not voters of the specific constituency should depart.

This measure is in place not only to uphold the integrity of the election process but also to prevent additional strain on security forces responsible for ensuring the safety of the visiting VIP.
