A video circulating on social media purportedly showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi making a controversial statement about replacing the old constitution with one based on Manusmriti, allegedly beyond the reach of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, has been debunked upon verification.

The claim suggests PM Modi said, “I will change the old constitution to make a constitution with Manusmriti which even Baba Saheb Ambedkar himself cannot end.” However, fact-checking reveals this assertion to be FALSE.

The original video footage reveals PM Modi’s actual statement: “Regarding the Constitution, you should accept it, and take note of these words of Modi, even if Babasaheb Ambedkar himself were to appear, he wouldn’t be able to abolish the Constitution. Our Constitution is akin to the Geeta, Ramayana, Bible, and Quran for the (BJP) government.”

Further investigation found that PM Modi delivered this speech at an election rally in Rajasthan’s Barmer on April 12, 2024. Contrary to the viral claim, media reports confirm that PM Modi emphasized the significance of the Constitution and stated that even Babasaheb Ambedkar could not abolish it.

Upon a thorough search, the full video of the speech was located on PM Modi’s official YouTube channel. Analysis revealed that the viral clip was edited to distort PM Modi’s statement. The edited segment, from 34:28 to 34:46, was taken out of context to misrepresent his remarks.

In conclusion, PM Modi did not mention implementing Manusmriti by changing the Constitution, as falsely claimed in the viral post. This incident underscores the importance of fact-checking and critical analysis in combating misinformation spread through social media platforms.
