Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared today that the Narendra Modi government is on a determined mission to eradicate Maoists from India in the near future, after a significant encounter in Chhattisgarh.

In a statement, Shah emphasized the government’s relentless efforts against terrorism and Maoist insurgency, particularly highlighting the recent operation where security forces eliminated 29 Maoists in Chhattisgarh.

“I can confidently affirm that our operations against Maoists will persist, and under PM Modi’s leadership, we will eradicate Maoists from our nation in a remarkably short span,” asserted Amit Shah.

Highlighting the proactive measures taken since the BJP government assumed power in Chhattisgarh three months ago, Shah noted the substantial progress made in neutralizing Maoist threats. He reported over 80 Maoists killed, 125 arrested, and 150 surrendered since then.

Shah further disclosed the establishment of numerous security force camps in Maoist-affected regions since 2014, with an additional 250 set up since 2019 to address security concerns and eliminate the security vacuum.

The recent encounter in Kanker district, Chhattisgarh, marked a significant blow to the Maoist insurgency, resulting in the highest casualties ever suffered by Maoists in a single encounter in the state’s history.

Since the beginning of 2024, a total of 79 Maoists have been eliminated in various gun battles across the Bastar region, a stronghold for Maoist activities.

The fierce encounter in Chhattisgarh also led to injuries for three security personnel, while a substantial cache of weapons was seized from the Maoist group, according to officials.

Amit Shah’s remarks underscore the government’s unwavering commitment to combatting Maoist insurgency and ensuring peace and security in affected regions across India.
