Bhopal, 3rd Dec. Scenes of joy and celebration unfolded near the residence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Bhopal on Sunday as the BJP gained the upper hand in the vote counting for the state assembly elections.
Smiles, hugs, tears, and showers of flower petals were seen as Chief Minister Chouhan’s wife, Sadhna Chouhan, embraced the BJP’s women workers and supporters.
As the BJP surpassed the majority mark, party workers erupted in celebration, lighting firecrackers, playing drums, and exchanging sweets and garlands. Chief Minister Chouhan, along with his family, greeted party workers and supporters in the state capital. They later shared sweets with state BJP president VD Sharma and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
The Madhya Pradesh assembly elections 2023, with 230 seats, were a competition between the BJP and the Congress. The Congress’ short-lived government, formed in 2018, collapsed in 2020 due to the defection of Scindia to the BJP.
Chief Minister Chouhan attributed the BJP’s apparent victory in the state to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s active campaign before the assembly elections.
Chouhan also highlighted the significant impact of the Madhya Pradesh government’s welfare schemes, such as Ladli Lakshmi and Ladli Behna, on the lives of farmers, the underprivileged, and young people.
