Congress pits Kanhaiya Kumar against BJP’s Manoj Tiwari in North East Delhi

The Congress on Sunday released a list of 10 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Delhi and Punjab. Former Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi has been chosen to run for the Jalandhar-SC Lok Sabha seat.

The party has selected veteran politician JP Agarwal for the Chandni Chowk seat and youth leader Kanhaiya Kumar for the North East Delhi seat. Kumar will be competing against BJP’s Manoj Tiwari, the only BJP candidate in Delhi who has not been replaced.

For the North West Delhi Lok Sabha seat, the party has named former MP Udit Raj as their candidate. In Punjab, the party has renominated sitting MPs Gurjeet Singh Aujla for Amritsar and Amar Singh for the Fatehgarh Sahib (SC) Lok Sabha seat.

Former MP Dharvir Gandhi, who recently joined the Congress after leaving the Aam Aadmi Party, will be running for the Patiala Lok Sabha seat. The party has also chosen Sukhpal Singh Khaira from the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat and Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu for the Bathinda Lok Sabha seat, currently held by SAD chief’s wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

In addition, the Congress has announced Ujjwal Revti Raman Singh as their candidate for the Allahabad Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh. The party has also released a list of 75 candidates for the Odisha assembly elections.
