New Delhi, 29th April.
The Telangana Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, has been summoned by the Delhi Police in connection with an investigation into a manipulated video purportedly featuring Home Minister Amit Shah. Alongside Reddy, four other individuals from Telangana have also been served notices to participate in the probe.

The video in question was allegedly disseminated by the official Twitter handle of Telangana Congress, triggering a cascade of reposts by various party leaders who claimed it depicted the BJP’s purported agenda to eliminate reservation quotas for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

Prompted by complaints from the BJP and the Home Ministry regarding the altered video’s circulation on social media platforms, the Delhi Police initiated an investigation and registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology (IT) Act.

In the altered footage, Home Minister Amit Shah was portrayed as advocating for the abolition of reservation quotas, a claim vehemently refuted by the BJP, which contends that the video was manipulated to distort Shah’s original statements made during a political rally.

Denouncing the video as fraudulent, BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya accused the Congress of disseminating misinformation with the potential to incite widespread unrest. Malviya warned of legal repercussions for those involved in sharing the video.

Amid the furor, Home Minister Amit Shah reaffirmed the BJP-led NDA government’s commitment to upholding reservation quotas for SCs, STs, and OBCs, dismissing allegations to the contrary propagated by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Shah condemned Gandhi’s assertions as baseless and aimed at misleading the public, asserting that the BJP’s track record over its tenure disproves any intention to revoke reservation rights.

Rahul Gandhi had previously accused the BJP of harboring designs to amend the Constitution and strip backward communities and Dalits of their reservation privileges.

As the investigation unfolds and political tensions escalate, the veracity of the video and its implications continue to reverberate within the political landscape, underscoring the sensitivity surrounding issues of reservation and social justice in India.
