Jalgaon, 15th May.
In a tragic turn of events, a State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) jawan, part of the security detail for cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, reportedly took his own life at his native home in Jamner town. Identified as Prakash Kapde, aged 39, the jawan allegedly shot himself in the neck with his service gun during the early hours of the morning.

Kapde, who was on a brief vacation at his ancestral place, leaves behind his aged parents, wife, two minor children, a brother, and other family members. Senior Police Inspector Kiran Shinde of Jamner Police Station stated that the incident occurred around 1:30 am, and investigations are underway to determine the exact reasons behind the alleged suicide.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that he may have taken this extreme step due to personal reasons, but a comprehensive probe is necessary to ascertain the full details,” Mr. Shinde cautiously shared with news agency IANS. Kapde’s body has been sent for autopsy, and the Jamner Police have filed an accidental death report pending further investigations, including interviews with family members, colleagues, and acquaintances.

Sources indicate that the SRPF is expected to conduct an independent inquiry into the incident, given the involvement of a jawan assigned to VVIP security.
