Jammu, 9th May.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) attached six properties owned by a top terrorist from the banned group Jaish-e-Mohammed in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

The NIA stated that the properties, located in Mirpora and Pulwama, belong to the arrested terrorist Asif Ahmed Malik. These properties were seized under Section 33 (1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) of 1967, following orders from the NIA Special Court in Jammu.

Asif Ahmed Malik was arrested on January 31, 2020, in connection with a case involving the transportation of terrorists, their infiltration into Kashmir from across the border, and the seizure of weapons and explosives from JeM operatives.

On July 27, 2020, the NIA charged him with various offenses under the Indian Penal Code, Explosive Substances Act, UAPA, and the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act of 1933. Asif Ahmed Malik is currently facing trial.

The NIA’s investigation revealed a plot by the accused to transport infiltrated terrorists to the Kashmir Valley and provide them with safe shelter to carry out attacks on security forces as part of a larger terror conspiracy against India, according to the agency’s statement.

Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) was established by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000 and is based in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, as per the NIA.

Since its inception, JeM has carried out numerous terrorist attacks in India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. JeM was designated as a Designated Foreign Terrorist Organization by the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSC) 1267, and Maulana Masood Azhar was labeled a Global Terrorist by the UNSC in 2019.
