India Condemns ‘Khalistan’ Slogans at Public Event Attended by Canadian Leaders

New Delhi, 30th April. In a stern response to the raising of separatist slogans on ‘Khalistan’ at a public event attended by Canadian leaders, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Canadian Deputy High Commissioner on April 29, 2024.

During the meeting, the Government of India strongly protested against the disturbing actions of allowing such separatist slogans to be raised unchecked at an event personally addressed by the Prime Minister of Canada.

India expressed deep concern over the political space granted to separatism, extremism, and violence in Canada, emphasizing the adverse impact on India-Canada relations and the encouragement of a climate of violence and criminality detrimental to Canadian citizens.

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges posed by extremist elements and the need for concerted efforts to address such issues in the interest of maintaining peaceful relations between nations.
