Noida, 30th April.
Concerns over food safety have arisen in Noida after two separate incidents involving individuals falling ill after consuming food from popular outlets, prompting investigations by the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department (FDA).

One incident involved a consumer falling sick allegedly after consuming a burger and french fries from a McDonald’s outlet in Noida Sector 18. Prompted by the complaint lodged on the Food Safety Connect portal of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), FDA officials swiftly took action, collecting samples of palm oil, cheese, and mayonnaise from the outlet.

Assistant Commissioner (Food) of FDA, Archana Dheeran, confirmed the actions taken, emphasizing the importance of thorough investigation into the matter. Samples have been sent to the laboratory, and pending the results, further action will be taken, including potential registration of a case if the products fail to meet safety standards.

In another incident, a woman fell ill after consuming a stale cake from Theobroma bakery in Noida Sector 104. Similar to the McDonald’s case, FDA officials collected samples of the pineapple cake for laboratory testing. Dheeran reiterated the importance of waiting for the test results, expected within a month, before deciding on further actions.
