Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, 31st March. After meeting with the leaders of the Opposition INDIA alliance, Swami Prasad Maurya left the Samajwadi Party and founded the Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party (RSSP). On Sunday, he announced that his party would run for elections alone from Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh.

Since his party’s formation on February 22 of this year, Maurya claimed in an X post that he has been “continuously trying to make the India alliance win.” In addition, he had stated that he was waiting to find out if the INDIA alliance’s constituents saw him as a member. Since the Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party’s founding date until now, I have worked tirelessly to fortify and win the INDIA alliance. A rough translation of Maurya’s post in Hindi said, “In the same sequence, we also appealed to the countrymen to save the Constitution-removal BJP, save democracy-removal BJP.”

In accordance with their expectations, I also sent a list of five names to the leaders of the two major UP parties that are part of the INDIA Alliance. I then waited for a decision to be made and for the names chosen by these two parties to be made public. Though no announcement has been made as of yet, it might happen,” he wrote on X.

“Therefore, after a protracted wait, taking into account the demands of the Kushinagar Lok Sabha people, I am dedicating myself to the people of Kushinagar as a candidate for Kushinagar Lok Sabha, taking a pledge for the respect, self-respect and development of the people of Kushinagar.”

“SN Chauhan of the Shohit Samaj Party will run for the Lok Sabha seat in Deoria. Soon, the remaining names will also be revealed. It remains to be seen at this point if the INDIA alliance’s participating parties view me as a member of the alliance or award me a certificate of non-membership, similar to what they did for Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad and Apna Dal (Camerawadi), Pallavi Patel,” he tweeted.

At one point, both Swami Prasad Maurya and her daughter Sanghmitra were members of the BJP.

Recently, he quit as MLC, left the Samajwadi Party, and founded the Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party.

On February 20, Maurya announced his resignation from the Samajwadi Party, one week after he left his position as national general secretary. He charged the Samajwadi Party leadership of discriminating against him and failing to stand up for him when he was leaving the party over his remarks regarding the Ramcharitmanas and the consecration of the Ayodhya temple.

Before the 2022 assembly elections, Maurya left the BJP and joined the Samajwadi Party. She unsuccessfully ran for office from Fazilnagar.

Prior to joining the BJP in 2016, Swami Prasad Maurya led the opposition in the Akhilesh Yadav government while serving as a member of Mayawati’s BSP.

The Badaun MP for the BJP is his daughter. In 2019, she won the MP election, defeating Dharmendra Yadav of the SP.
