Lalu Yadav Celebrates His 76th Birthday with Family, CM Nitish Extends Wishes

Patna, 11th June. Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad celebrated his 76th birthday in Patna by cutting a cake in the presence of family members.
On the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, Lalu Prasad cut the cake at 10 Circular Road, the official residence of former Bihar president Minister Rabri Devi, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya, who had given a kidney to the RJD president.
Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, greeted the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) head and wished him a long and healthy life.
“Prasad’s birthday is being celebrated in Patna after he underwent a successful kidney transplant in Singapore in December last year. The party is also organising similar celebrations at the panchayat, block and sub-division levels across the state”, said RJD state spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan.
“Mass feasts are being organised in other states where RJD has members. Party men are distributing fruits among poor patients in hospitals and stationeries among students from economically weaker sections. Supporters will also donate blood and clothes on this occasion”, said the RJD leader.
The RJD president is likely to play a key role in uniting the state’s opposition parties ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha and assembly elections.
Political experts say Prasad has an unrivaled ability to network with anti-BJP leaders.
In Bihar, the RJD is the largest ally of the Nitish-Kumar-led Grand Alliance government. JD(U), Congress, CPIML(L), CPI, CPI(M), and HAM are the other alliance members, with around 160 MLAs in the 243-member legislature.
Nitish Kumar is already attempting to bring the opposition groups together in preparation for the upcoming general elections.
Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad met with Congress President Sonia Gandhi in September to explore the parameters of opposition unity ahead of the 2024 general elections.
