Patna, 12th Feb. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his recent political maneuvers as Kumar sought a trust vote in the assembly today. Nitish Kumar, who severed ties with the Lalu Yadav-led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in January, has to prove his majority in the House after returning to power with BJP’s support.
Tejashwi Yadav, former Deputy Chief Minister, did not mince words as he addressed Nitish Kumar during the assembly session. “When you resigned from the Chief Minister’s post, you said you weren’t enjoying it. Were we there to entertain you? We were there to support you,” remarked Yadav, highlighting Kumar’s frequent shifts in allegiance.
Yadav expressed bewilderment at Kumar’s decision to leave the Mahagathbandhan, a coalition comprising JDU, RJD, and Congress. He questioned Kumar’s credibility, asking, “Ask any child in Bihar if he trusts Nitish ji. I can’t even say the words that they will use.”
Pointing to Kumar’s history of switching alliances, Yadav raised doubts about the Chief Minister’s political integrity. “Will Modi ji take guarantee he won’t switch again?” he questioned, alluding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurances.
Employing a reference from the Ramayana, Yadav likened Kumar’s situation to that of King Dasrath, who faced pressure from his wife Kaikeyi to exile Lord Ram. “Maybe he had compulsions, just like King Dasrath had when he sent Ram to the forest. We want you to remain the Chief Minister and fulfill the promises you made. But also identify the Kaikeyi around you,” Yadav urged.
Amidst political jabs and historical references, Tejashwi Yadav’s critique shows the contentious atmosphere in Bihar’s political landscape as Nitish Kumar navigates the trust vote and confronts opposition criticism.
