Patna, 12th Feb. In a significant political development, RJD leader Awadh Bihari Chaudhary was removed from his position as Bihar assembly speaker on Monday.
The ruling NDA coalition successfully passed a no-confidence motion against the Speaker, garnering the support of 125 MLAs, while 112 members voted against it in the 243-strong assembly.
Chaudhary refused to resign after his party lost power two weeks ago when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar terminated ties with the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ and rejoined the BJP-led coalition.
BJP MLA Nandkishore Yadav spearheaded the no-confidence motion against the Speaker, making a significant shift in the political landscape of Bihar.
