Sheyphali Sharan Assumes Office as Principal Director General of PIB

 Sheyphali B. Sharan on Monday officially took charge as the Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) following the retirement of Manish Desai.

Sharan, an officer of the 1990 batch of the Indian Information Service, brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role.

With a distinguished career spanning over three decades, Sharan has served in various capacities, primarily focusing on media publicity work for key ministries such as Finance, Health and Family Welfare, and Information and Broadcasting. Her diverse experience also includes serving as the Spokesperson for the Election Commission of India.

Sharan has contributed significantly to the Central Staffing Scheme Deputations, serving as Director in the Ministry of Health (Department of Traditional Systems of Medicine/AYUSH) from 2002 to 2007, and in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs) from 2013 to 2017.

Additionally, she has held pivotal roles such as OSD (Information Policy) at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting from 2000 to 2002, and Director of Administration and Finance at LSTV, Lok Sabha Secretariat, from 2007 to 2008.

Upon assuming her new responsibilities, Sharan was warmly welcomed by senior officials of the Press Information Bureau.

Her appointment underscores the government’s commitment to effective communication and transparency, and her vast experience will undoubtedly contribute to the Bureau’s continued success in disseminating accurate and timely information to the public.
