President Murmu Hails Legacy of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati at 200th Janmotsav Event

Tankara, 12th Feb. President Droupadi Murmu on Monday graced and addressed the 200th Janmotsav – Gyan Jyoti Parv Smaranotsav Samaroh on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati at Tankara, Gujarat.

In her address, President Murmu hailed the significant contributions of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati, emphasizing the profound impact of his teachings on Indian society. She noted that the land of India has been enriched by the birth of luminaries like Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati, whose ideals continue to inspire generations.

Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati, known for his advocacy of social reform and enlightenment, authored the immortal book ‘Satyarth Prakash’ to illuminate the path of truth. His progressive ideas resonated with renowned figures such as Lokmanya Tilak, Lala Hansraj, Swami Shraddhanand, and Lala Lajpat Rai, instilling a sense of consciousness and self-confidence among the Indian populace.

President Murmu highlighted Swamiji’s relentless efforts to eradicate superstitions and social evils prevalent in 19th-century Indian society. He championed causes such as the abolition of child marriage and polygamy, advocating for widow remarriage and women’s education. His teachings promoted modernity and social justice, dispelling the darkness of ignorance and stereotypes.

Commending the Arya Samaj’s pivotal role in women empowerment through the establishment of girls’ schools and higher educational institutions, President Murmu underscored the organization’s dedication to Swamiji’s vision. She applauded the Arya Samaj’s initiatives promoting family and social harmony, natural agriculture, and de-addiction, which contribute to the creation of a healthier society.

Looking ahead, President Murmu expressed confidence in Arya Samaj’s continued commitment to advancing Swamiji’s vision. As Arya Samaj prepares to mark its 150th anniversary next year, she called upon all its members to persevere in their endeavors to build a better world, guided by the enduring principles of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati.
