Five years old memories.
Yesterday Haryana Institute of Public Administration,Gurugram had organised reading session of my book on politics, governance and culture of Haryana.”Gustakhi Maaf Haryana”.I spoke for about an hour about misuse of Land acquisition act to benefit builders and other issues.Six years back i had addressed H.C.S and I.A.S, trainees.
. The Union Government and State Governments should formulate a
comprehensive policy to check the misuse of provisions of Land Acquisition Act for releasing
the land after issuance of notices under Section 4 and 6 of the act for acquisition of land.
This consesus emerged at a the reading session .While welcoming the author of the book, the Director General of HIPA, Mr G Prasanna Kumar said that people of Haryana are very witty and they have the rare quality of laughing on
themselves. He further said that the book reading session programme would be made a regular feature under the ages of Book Club HIPA.
While reading extracts from the book I dwelt in length as how farmer’s land was looted by misusing provisions of the
Land Acquisition Act in Haryana. The book also highlights Haryana’s politics of corruption,
defection, casteism, floor crossing, Bharat Darshan, Aaya Ram Gaya Ram phenomena and style of functioning of successive Chief Ministers of Haryana since its inception as a separate State in
1966. The book covers major happenings of Haryana. The author of two more other books
‘Haryana ke Lalo ke Sabrang Kisse’ and ‘Tips for Investigative Journalisam.Book
shows the real picture of politicians of Haryana, cutting across party lines exposing
them, how they hoodwink people by making false promises to win the elections. The book also
highlights the humorous aspect of Haryana’s famous Lals- Devi Lal, Bhajan Lal and Bansi Lal.
The then Chairman of Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority Gurugram Bench, Dr. K.K.
Khandelwal , Chief Executive Officer of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority
(GMDA) Mr V. Umashakar,I.G,Dr.Rajshree were also present on the occasion. The former Haryana Chief
Secretary, Mr M.C. Gupta presided over the b session.
The complainant of Manesar land acquisition scam case Mr Om Prakash Yadav ,
known RTI activist and crusader – Mr Harinder Dhingra and Mr Om Kataria also deliberated in
the session.
A number of prominent academicians, writers and poets also participated in the
session.
