Financial Help to Families who lost their Family Members in Covid19 Pandemic: Manoj Sinha, J&K Lieutenant Governor

Jammu, 11th May. Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha said that many families have lost their family members due to Covid-19. The government has decided to reach out to each such family. These families will be provided financial assistance for self-employment. Registered laborers, ferrymen and potters will be given Rs 1,000 per month for the next two months.

55 crores will also be released to Divcom, District Deputy Commissioners and Jammu and Kashmir Police for emergency use.

The Lt. Governor said that this announcement is to ease the suffering of the families who have lost their loved ones due to the pandemic. Special pension will be provided to senior citizens who lost the earning member in the family. Such families will be provided financial assistance for self-employment through Jammu and Kashmir Bank.

He said that the government is adopting many strategies to provide relief to the people. All the concerned officers have been directed to ensure supply of ration to the ration card holders on priority. The Lieutenant Governor said that the old age pension, installment of Ladli Beti, PMAY, MNREGA and other welfare schemes will be released immediately.

Chairing the high-level meeting, the Lieutenant Governor said that in this challenging time, old-age homes and orphanages would be provided with all possible assistance from the government, including rationing as well as other necessary items. Our top priority is to defeat this pandemic with people’s participation. The Lt. Governor asked the officials to get the vaccination done following the protocol.

He said that 55 crore rupees will be released under SDRF to all the Deputy Commissioners, Jammu and Kashmir Police for emergency use during the current Covid-19 crisis. Rs 20 million will be released to all 20 Deputy Commissioners, Rs 5 crore to both Divisional Commissioners and Rs 5 crore to Jammu and Kashmir Police for emergency use.
