J&K Administration Bolsters Anti-Terror Measures with New SP Deployments

Jammu, 17th August. Amid increased terrorist activity and upcoming assembly polls, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has appointed eight new superintendent of police (operations) across six districts in the Jammu region.

The move aims to strengthen anti-terror operations amid a spate of incidents in the area. According to an order issued by Principal Secretary Home Department Chandrakar Bharti, the new SPs will be stationed in Kathua, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, and Poonch districts.

Kathua and Rajouri districts will each have two SPs, while the other districts will have one SP each. The officers will oversee their respective operational sub-divisional areas to ensure increased vigilance and control.

  • Kathua: Nisar Ahmed will manage Kandi and border areas, while Aumer Iqbal will cover Upper Kathua, including Billawar, Bani, Basholi, and Malhar.
  • Rajouri: Charanjeet Singh will be responsible for Thanamandi, Darhal, Rajouri, and Manjakote; Wajahat Hussain will handle the Bhudal and Kandi belts.
  • Kishtwar: Ifroz Ahmed will oversee operations.
  • Reasi: Mashkoor Ahmed will cover Arnas, Gulabgarh, Mahore, Chasana, and Pasana.
  • Udhampur: Prithpal Singh will manage Basangarh, Dudu, and Latti areas.
  • Poonch: Sachin Gupta will handle Surankote and Bufliaz.

All appointees have been transferred from their previous roles as deputy commandants in the armed police.

This strategic deployment comes after a series of 18 terror incidents reported in the Jammu region since June 9.
