New Delhi,28th July. US secretary of state Antony Blinken reached India for two-day visit and will discuss various current geo-political issues predominantly Afghanistan and also the Covid -19 response issues. He will be interacting with the Indian     interlocutors who are also prepared to engage with the US on issues such as human rights and democracy.

The visit of Blinken comes after the visit of defence secretary Lloyd Austin in March and special envoy for climate change John Kerry in April. He will meet external affairs minister S Jaishankar, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday before travelling to Kuwait on the next leg of his tour.

The current situation in Afghanistan vis-à-vis Taliban would be the center stage of talks say experts. The Indian side would like to understand the response of United states and the roadmap it is ready to chart for the support for Afghan forces over the next few months and ensure that the democratic government is not de-stablised by Taliban the radical Islamist organisation. The gains of Taliban would hamper the growth of democracy in the region, so it becomes crucial that the United States come out with a plan especially after its ouster from Afghanistan. The experts were also of the view that the discussion on the role of Pakistan that is in cahoots with Taliban and is supported it with military logistics to remove the democratic government in Afghanistan will take centerstage.

The human rights issues will also be the part of the discussions said experts.
