Washington, 16th July.
Former US President Donald Trump has officially announced Ohio Senator JD Vance as his vice presidential running mate for the upcoming November 5 elections. The announcement was made via Trump’s Truth Social Platform, where he praised Vance’s dedication to conservative values and his support for Trump’s policies.

“After lengthy deliberation and consideration, I am proud to declare Senator JD Vance of the Great State of Ohio as my Vice Presidential nominee,” Trump stated. He highlighted Vance’s commitment to defending the Constitution, standing with the troops, and his pledge to contribute to Trump’s vision of ‘Making America Great Again’.

JD Vance, aged 39, has garnered significant attention for his transformation from a critic to a staunch supporter of Trump. Born in impoverished Middletown, Ohio, Vance served in the US Marines in Iraq before earning a scholarship to Yale Law School. He later ventured into Silicon Valley as a venture capitalist and gained national recognition with his bestselling book “Hillbilly Elegy” in 2016.

Initially critical of Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, Vance has since become one of Trump’s most vocal defenders on Capitol Hill. His evolution from a ‘never Trumper’ to a close ally of the former President has sparked both intrigue and criticism, particularly from Democrats who accuse him of opportunism.

Vance’s nomination was celebrated at the Republican convention, where he appeared with his Indian-American wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, and received enthusiastic applause from delegates. He is scheduled to address the convention on Wednesday, further outlining his vision and policy goals alongside Trump.

Despite initial reservations from some Republican donors over Vance’s anti-corporate rhetoric and stance on Ukraine aid, Trump’s decision underscores his confidence in Vance’s ability to bolster his campaign against Democratic President Joe Biden. Polls indicate a close race nationally, with Trump holding a lead in key battleground states pivotal to election victory.

With the campaign now in full swing, Trump and Vance are expected to present a united front, aiming to consolidate support among conservative voters while challenging Biden’s administration on issues ranging from domestic policy to international relations.
