New Delhi, 13th May. NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul said that the sale of Sputnik-V vaccine will start in the Indian market from next week.
He said that production of this vaccine will also start in India from July. Along with this, he said that any vaccine company approved by FDA, WHO can arrive in India. Import license will be given within 1-2 days. He said that no import license is currently pending.
The Health Ministry has given this information while addressing the media on Thursday. According to Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health, the infection rate in 18 states of the country is still more than 20 percent. He said that there are 12 states in the country where there are more than 1 lakh active cases. The number of active cases remains between 50,000 and one lakh in 8 states. There are 16 states where less than 50,000 active cases are there.
Mr Agarwal said, 83.26 percent of the cases have been recovered in the country so far. There are currently about 37.1 lakh active cases in the country. On May 3, the recovery rate was 81.3 percent, after which recovery has improved. In the last 24 hours, 3,62,727 cases have been reported in the country.
There are 24 states and union territories in the country with a positivity rate of more than 15 percent. Positivity rate is 5-15 percent in 8 states. Four states have less than 5 percent positivity rates. The infection rate in 10 states is more than 25 percent and the infection rate in 18 states is more than 20 percent which is worrying and needs attention.
Health Ministry’s Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal said that the vaccination drive has gained pace and more than 17 crore people have been vaccinated during this period.
