New Delhi, 3rd April.
Pashupati Kumar Paras, the president of the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), put an end to speculation about a rift with the NDA regarding seat allotments for the Lok Sabha. This speculation arose after he resigned from the central cabinet. Paras met with BJP national president JP Nadda at his residence in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Feeling upset after the NDA allocated five Lok Sabha seats in Bihar to the Chirang Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), including Hajipur, which Paras currently represents in the Lower House, he accused the BJP of unfairness during a media briefing.

Nadda announced on social media that the LJP faction led by Mr. Paras will fully support all 40 NDA candidates in Bihar. This indicates that Paras has resolved his differences with the ruling alliance at the Centre before the Lok Sabha elections.

During the meeting, Nadda stated, “I met with our NDA ally and head of RLJP, Pashupati Paras, at my residence in New Delhi. Pashupati-ji has done good work under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Our alliance will remain strong in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, and his party will fully support all 40 NDA candidates in Bihar. He will support our candidates and ensure their victory in the elections.”

Earlier this month, Paras resigned as Union Minister, alleging injustice by the BJP after losing the ticket from Hajipur. None of his party members were included on the NDA ticket for the upcoming general elections.

As part of an agreement with Chirag Paswan, his party will contest five Lok Sabha seats in Bihar.

Paswan aims to win a seat in the lower house from the Hajipur constituency, previously held by his father, former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan.

After expressing his dissatisfaction at a press briefing for not receiving a ticket from Hajipur, there were speculations that Mr. Paras might run as an Independent with support from the INDIA bloc.

However, Paras clarified on Saturday that he will continue to support the NDA in the Lok Sabha polls and will not contest from Hajipur, but he did not reconcile with his nephew Chirag.

In a social media post tagging Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Nadda, and BJP’s Bihar in-charge Vinod Tawde, Paras stated in Hindi, “The Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party is part of the NDA, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is our leader.”

He mentioned that the decision to field Chirag in Hajipur was final, and they will fully support their candidates to help the NDA achieve its goal of winning all 40 seats in Bihar.

As per the agreement between the BJP and its NDA partners in Bihar, the BJP will contest 17 seats, while the Janata Dal United will field candidates in 16 seats. The Hindustani Aawam Morcha (HAM) and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) will contest one seat each, and the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will contest the remaining five seats.

The original LJP, founded by Ram Vilas Paswan, split into two factions in 2021, with Chirag Paswan and Mr. Paras leading separate groups.

In the 2019 elections, Paras won from Hajipur, while Chirag Paswan secured a victory in Jamui.
