Rajnath Singh Announces Cash Rewards for Armed Forces Athletes Excelling in 2023 Asian Games & Asian Para Games

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh has given the approval to a financial incentive scheme for the Armed Forces personnel who demonstrated stellar performances at the 19th Asian Games and 4th Asian Para Games, held in Hangzhou, China, during September-October 2023.

Under this scheme, gold medal winners from both events will receive a handsome cash prize of Rs 25 lakh each, while silver medalists will be awarded Rs 15 lakh each, and bronze medalists will receive Rs 10 lakh each.

The decision to institute these cash rewards underscores the government’s recognition of the dedication and achievements of Service athletes who brought glory to the nation during these prestigious international competitions.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh personally congratulated and honored these athletes upon their return, applauding their remarkable performances on the global stage. The financial rewards extend to a total of 45 medal winners, including seven para-athletes, who collectively secured 09 Gold, 18 Silver, and 17 Bronze medals in the Asian Games, along with 01 Gold, 04 Silver, and 02 Bronze medals in the Asian Para Games.

This initiative by the Ministry of Defence marks the first time such a financial incentive has been extended to Armed Forces personnel for their achievements in sports. The move aims to provide additional motivation and encouragement to these athletes as they gear up for the qualifying events leading to the Paris Olympics Games 2024, for which they are currently intensively preparing.
