PM Modi Expressed Deep Grief Over Demise of Radio Icon Ameen Sayani

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the demise of renowned radio personality Ameen Sayani.
Modi also said that Ameen Sayani Ji has played an important role in revolutionising Indian broadcasting and nurtured a very special bond with his listeners through his work.

Ameen Sayani, the legendary voice synonymous with the iconic “Binaca Geet Mala” program, breathed his last at the age of 91, as confirmed by his son Rajil Sayani today.

Sayani suffered a heart attack on Tuesday night and was rushed to HN Reliance Hospital, where he succumbed to his ailment. Rajil Sayani informed the Press Trust of India, “He died at around 7:00 pm of a heart attack at the HN Reliance hospital.”

In a X post, the Prime Minister said, “Shri Ameen Sayani Ji’s golden voice on the airwaves had a charm and warmth that endeared him to people across generations. Through his work, he played an important role in revolutionising Indian broadcasting and nurtured a very special bond with his listeners. Saddened by his passing away. Condolences to his family, admirers and all radio lovers. May his soul rest in peace.”

 

 

 

Born in Mumbai on December 21, 1932, Ameen Sayani hailed from a multilingual family. His iconic opening line, “Namaskar bhaiyon aur behno, main aapka dost Ameen Sayani bol raha hoon” on Radio Ceylon, continues to evoke nostalgia among listeners.
