Actor-politician Kamal Haasan, speaking at the 7th-anniversary celebrations of his party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), said that discussions were underway for his party’s potential political alliance. He emphasized MNM’s commitment to supporting any bloc that prioritizes the nation’s interests over narrow political gains.

Haasan welcomed the recent entry of top Tamil actor Vijay into politics, indicating a shifting landscape in Tamil Nadu’s political arena. However, he reiterated MNM’s stance against aligning with parties engaged in what he termed “local feudal politics.”

Responding to questions about MNM’s possible involvement in the multi-party opposition INDIA bloc, Haasan emphasized the need to transcend partisan politics for the greater good of the nation. He affirmed MNM’s willingness to join any alliance that shares its commitment to selfless service to the nation.

Regarding speculations about MNM’s alliance talks with the Chief Minister MK Stalin-led DMK for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Haasan confirmed that discussions were ongoing. He assured the media that any significant developments in this regard would be promptly communicated.

MNM, which contested in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, aims to bolster its presence in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
