Not only MLAs, Tripura CM Biplab Deb insulted Governors too

GG News Bureau

Agartala, 15th July. The most controversial Chief Minister of the country Biplab Kumar Deb of Tripura has allegedly evicted the third Governor of his 41 months old government. Taking his close proximity with the union home minister Amit Shah, Biplab Deb had removed Tathagata Roy within six months of being the Chief Minister in August 2018 because he was not willing to get Governor’s advice. Biplab Deb had developed the same problem with successive Governors, a legend in Indian politics Kaptan Singh Solanki, but he was retired from the post. Meanwhile, Biplab Deb became more powerful and couldn’t accept any direction from the constitutional head, which had taken a bad shape recently with another legendary Governor of Tripura Ramesh Bais.

According to party sources, Biplab Deb was annoyed with Governor Bais because he had several times advised Deb to maintain relations with all the stakeholders including the MLAs and senior leaders of BJP in the state. Raj Bhawan sources said Governor Bais had advised him twice to restore relations with the media, which was hostile due to his open threat to journalists for the interest of BJP and his government. Governor had also reportedly proposed that if agrees he will mediate to restore friendly relations with the media and the MLAs who went against him. But Biplab Deb didn’t respond, rather abused him in the presence of senior bureaucrats. He allegedly went on saying to see the Governor as according to him, Ramesh Bais was working against BJP !!

To insult the Governor by not appointing his full time Secretary and withdrawing staff and other amenities. The Governor was upset when Chief Minister denied his advice after CPI-M delegation met him twice on unprovoked attacks on them by BJP goons and the silent role of Chief Minister that seems to be encouraging the violence. Raj Bhawan sources said Governor had called CM, CS and DGP to discuss the issues of deteriorating law and order, relation of CM with his MLAs and journalists but neither Deb went nor allowed CS and DGP to go. When Raj Bhawan officials called him, Deb refused to talk to Governor and indirectly warned Ramesh Bais not to do DALALI FOR CPM (Broker of CPM). After the insult of six long months, Governor had to seek his transfer and successfully got posting in Jharkhand.

The fellow ministers of Biplab Deb’s cabinet and senior officers were unhappy with the comment of Chief Minister after Ramesh Bais was transferred. He allegedly commented, “BJP is not like the 90’s now. Aged people have no value to Modi and Amit Shah. He warned him not to advise me unnecessarily but he didn’t listen. Bais thought with his report Modi and Amit Shah will change me but he doesn’t know, I am more precious to them for many reasons. Nobody can replace me unless I wish to leave the chair.
