Nainital High Court slams government over audit report on Covid 10 deaths in the state

Dehradun, 24th June.Nainital High Court slammed the government over audit report on Covid 19 deaths in the state and termed it as totally vague and misleading

A division Bench of Chief Justice RS Chauhan and Justice Alok Verma, Naintial High court on Wednesday termed the 700-page affidavit filed in the court is misleading.
The High court while hearing several of PILs alleging delays in reporting Covid deaths by hospitals had ordered the government to conduct an audit of Covid deaths in the state and submit its report by June 21.
The court in its clear observations said that the state government was fooling and not telling the truth.
“Don’t tell us that there is Ram Rajya in Uttarakhand and that we live in heaven, said the Court. The court lambasted the government and said that the high number of the deaths due to Covid was due to incomplete preparation. The court also highlighted the fact that no Covid rules were followed during the Ganga Dussehra celebration at Har ki Paudi bathing ghats. No social distance, no mask, and no sanitation system were in place.”
The HC also expressed its displeasure over preparation for third wave of COVID-19 and asked it to gear up for Delta Plus mutant of the pandemic. The court also was displeased at the bureaucratic hurdles being created to delay the processes.
