Manipur Update: Governor Anusuiya Uikey

Representatives of ‘Team Meitei Personalities’ met Ms Anusuiya Uikey, Governor of Manipur at Raj Bhavan and presented an overview of the seminar to be held on 28 October 2023 on “Understanding the Current Conflict and the Way Forward”.
He said that this initiative was taken to formulate policies and take steps to bring normalcy in Manipur which has been affected by ethnic conflict for more than six months.

The Governor appreciated their initiative to restore peace and normalcy in the State and appealed to all to extend their cooperation in such initiatives.

6th Governor’s Art Award handed over to Mr. Laishram Phonindro Singh of Foijing Chingmang Awang Leekai, Nambol
Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey presented the 6th Governor’s Art Award to Shri Laishram Phonindro Singh of Foijing Chingmang Awang Leekai, Nambol. The award carries a citation, a shawl and a cash amount of Rs 10000. The Governor, who is also the Chief Patron of the Arts Society Manipur, congratulated and congratulated the award winner.

He expressed happiness that such awards will provide a platform to emerging artists to boost their morale and uplift the artist communities. While inspecting the artworks of the award winner, he appreciated the artworks and said that such artworks will carry forward the legacy of the artist in the coming generations. On this occasion, President of Arts Society Manipur, Shri T.H. Devendra and members were also present.

Hon’ble Anusuiya Uikey,  Governor of Manipur met the teachers, doctors, paramedical staff, social workers and volunteers of Vishwagram Gujarat at Raj Bhavan and apprised them about the activities undertaken by their organization for the children taking shelter in the relief camps.

He told the Governor that under his instructions and guidance he has visited 16 relief camps in four districts – Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur and Thoubal. And to relieve children from stress, they are involved in creative activities like drawing, card making, toy making, origami, games, music etc.

They also examined the displaced people with health problems and provided medicines, and if the patients with serious health problems were affected, they were helped by contacting a specialist doctor or hospital for examination.

During his discussion with the displaced people, he learned that many of them want to take vocational training to earn their livelihood. He told that they will help around 40-50 victims by finding training facilities in different areas in Gujarat for free training for three-four months. He has also started a campaign to collect books for children in the relief camps of Gujarat.

Expressing his appreciation and gratitude to the team for their services, the Governor said that healing and mental de-stressing for the children is the need of the hour and encouraged them to take up more activities that will bring the children out of the trauma. He asked to continue the initiative of providing various relief materials to the displaced people in relief camps. He also encouraged the team to continue their humanitarian services in affected Manipur

The Governor congratulated the officers and said that they should perform their duty with full dedication, honesty and sensitivity in the interest of the countrymen and work for the welfare of the citizens and the nation.
In the context of the current situation in the state, it was advised to find ways to establish brotherhood and law and order between the two communities.
