Kerala MLA K.T. Jaleel Targets Corrupt IPS Officers Amid Political Turmoil

Thiruvananthapuram,4th Sept. K.T. Jaleel, a ruling Left MLA from Malappuram district and former minister, has launched a scathing critique of allegedly corrupt and fraudulent IPS officers in the Kerala police force. His remarks, posted on Facebook, underscore his commitment to exposing corruption within the state’s police ranks.

Jaleel’s post reads: “Fraudulent and corrupt IPS officers will be exposed. No doubt about it.” He criticized the long-standing perception that officers could evade accountability due to their positions, declaring that this era has come to an end.

This statement comes as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the ruling CPI(M) are working to contain the fallout from similar allegations made by Nilambur MLA P.V. Anvar. Anvar had previously accused ADGP Ajith Kumar and the Chief Minister’s political secretary P.S. Sasi of serious misconduct.

Despite Jaleel’s praise for Vijayan as a “brave comrade” for dismissing 125 police officers over misconduct, the allegations have cast a shadow over the Home Department, which has been under Vijayan’s stewardship for the past eight years.

In his post, Jaleel asserted that “walls have ears” and “the eyes of God are everywhere, watching,” emphasizing the government’s resolve to uncover the financial sources of those implicated in gold smuggling.

Jaleel, who recently announced his retirement from electoral politics, urged that any falsehoods in Anvar’s claims should be formally contested. He said that legal action against the officials would only serve to highlight their alleged misdeeds.

Jaleel’s statements add to the growing scrutiny of the Kerala police and the state’s political leadership, signaling a turbulent period ahead for Kerala’s political landscape.
