Bengaluru, 19th May.
A special court for Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in Bengaluru has issued an arrest warrant against JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna in connection with a sexual assault case. This development comes amidst mounting legal troubles for Revanna, whose father, H D Revanna, a Holenarasipura MLA, is also implicated in the case.

Revanna, the son of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, had previously been released on bail after spending seven days in jail, including four days in police custody, for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a woman. However, this new arrest warrant is related to a separate sexual assault case registered against him on Saturday.

The issuance of the warrant follows a series of explicit videos allegedly depicting Revanna engaging in sexual assault, which gained significant public attention. As a result, the Karnataka government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations, following recommendations from Karnataka State Commission for Women chairperson Nagalakshmi Chowdhary.

With a blue corner notice issued against him by Interpol, Revanna, who is also the NDA’s candidate for the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, is currently at large. His evasion of authorities adds further complexity to the legal proceedings surrounding him.
