Mumbai 8th May: Despite the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian stock market opened on a positive note on Thursday. This comes after the Indian armed forces, in a joint effort, carried out “Operation Sindoor” in Pakistan and PoK in the early hours of Wednesday, destroying nine terrorist hideouts.
The Bombay Stock Exchange’s benchmark Sensex opened with a gain of 166 points at 80,912 today. In the initial trading hours, the Sensex was seen trading with a gain of 0.16 percent or 121 points at 80,841. Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 17 were trading in green while 13 were in red during the initial trade.
On the other hand, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty was trading flat at 24,407 in the early hours.
Talking about the individual Sensex stocks, Tata Motors witnessed the highest gains. Besides this, PowerGrid, Kotak Bank, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, HCL Tech, TCS, Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, Infosys, SBI, UltraTech Cement, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Asian Paints also saw an upward movement in their shares.
Conversely, Zomato, Maruti Suzuki, ITC, Nestle India, HDFC Bank, HUL, Sun Pharma, Reliance, Tata Steel, Titan, NTPC, Bharti Airtel, and ICICI Bank were among the shares that saw a decline in the early trading session.
Looking at the sectoral indices, Nifty Financial Services 25/50 saw the highest gain of 1.10 percent. In addition, Nifty Auto gained 0.38 percent, Nifty IT gained 0.37 percent, Nifty Media gained 0.17 percent, Nifty PSU Bank gained 0.37 percent, Nifty Private Bank gained 0.57 percent, Nifty Realty gained 0.15 percent, Nifty Consumer Durables gained 0.16 percent, Nifty Financial Services Ex-Bank gained 0.50 percent, Nifty MidSmall Financial Services gained 0.72 percent, and Nifty MidSmall IT & Telecom gained 0.71 percent.
On the other hand, Nifty MidSmall Healthcare fell by 0.30 percent, Nifty Oil & Gas by 0.02 percent, Nifty Healthcare by 0.58 percent, Nifty Pharma by 0.41 percent, Nifty Metal by 0.19 percent, and Nifty FMCG by 0.61 percent.
