Washington, 15th May. Indian-origin Neera Tanden has been appointed as senior adviser to the White House. She was previously elected by Joe Biden to head the Office of Management and Budget but withdrew her nomination in March amid protests.
In March, the White House withdrew the nomination proposal of President Joe Biden to appoint Neera Tanden as director to the Office of Management and Budget. Neera announced her withdrawal, as she failed to get enough votes to confirm her nomination between the Democratic and Republicans.
The request for confirmation in Neera’s name was also rejected by MPs from Biden’s Democratic Party. Biden then said- “Ms. Tanden has asked that her nomination for the Office of Management and Budget Director be withdrawn and I have accepted her proposal.”
John Podesta, the founder of the Center for American Progress (CAP), said in a statement that Neera’s intelligence, hard work, and political vision would prove crucial to the Biden administration. However, we will miss her expertise and leadership in CAP.
