India Showcases Innovative Energy Solutions at World Energy Congress 2024

India is making its mark at the 26th World Energy Congress held in Rotterdam, Netherlands, from April 22nd to 25th, 2024, by showcasing its innovative technologies and power generation practices aimed at environmental conservation on a global scale.

The India Pavilion at the Congress serves as a focal point for demonstrating India’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions. Participating Central Public Sector Enterprises under the Ministry of Power, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Ministry of Coal, and Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas are collectively showcasing India’s leadership in global energy transition.

The inauguration of the India Pavilion took place on April 22nd, 2024, with Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Shri Pankaj Agarwal, and Ambassador of India to the Netherlands, Mrs. Reenat Sandhu, jointly inaugurating the event. The ceremony was attended by additional officials, including Shri Srikant Nagulapalli, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Power, and CMDs and senior executives from participating organizations such as NTPC, POWERGRID, PFC, REC, NHPC, SECI, IREDA, and ONGC, along with representatives from the World Energy Council India.

Highlighting the significance of India’s participation, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Climate and Energy Policy of the Netherlands, H.E. Rob Jetten, along with Secretary General and CEO of the World Energy Council, Dr. Angela Wilkinson, visited the India Pavilion on April 22nd, 2024. Their visit underscored their appreciation for India’s efforts and progress towards energy transition, showcasing the global interest in India’s initiatives in the energy sector.

The 26th World Energy Congress, themed ‘Redesigning Energy for People and Planet’, is anticipated to serve as a pivotal moment for global leadership in clean and inclusive energy transitions. With the participation of countries and organizations from around the world, the Congress aims to explore the role of interconnected energy societies in driving forward these transitions amidst a rapidly changing global landscape.

As a longstanding member of the World Energy Council, India continues to play a proactive role in promoting sustainable energy practices and contributing to the global energy dialogue. Under the patronage of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, and with support from other key ministries, World Energy Council India remains committed to advancing the sustainable supply and use of energy in alignment with national and international goals.
