India enters quarterfinal by defeating Argentina 3-1 in Hockey at Tokyo Olympics

Tokyo/New Delhi, 29th July. Indian Hockey team coming back strongly after the 7-1 drubbing from Australia to enter quarter final at Tokyo Olympics. The resurgent Indian team defeated the defending champions Argentina 3-1 to reach the quarter final stage on Thursday.
The resilient Indian team managed to keep Argentina to goalless draw in the first two quarters. India taking on from their broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute through Varun Kumar before Vivek Sagar Prasad (58th) and Harmanpreet Singh (59th) scored in the closing minutes of the match to seal the contest.
In Archery Atanu Das won a thriller that went all the way to shoot out to enter the pre-quarterfinals as he defeated Korea’s Oh Jinhyek 6-5 in 1/16 Elimination. The Indian lost the first set 26-25, tied the second and third 27-27 and then won the the fourth set 27-22 to make it 4-4.His wife Deepika Kumari reached the pre-quarters of the Women’s Individual event after by defeating USA’s Jennifer Mucino-Fernandez. Deepika won the match by 6-4 margin in a closely contested match. The day has been good for India so far but the elimination rounds will get more tough in coming matches and it remains to be seen that can the Indian’s handle the pressure at the top level to attain the podium finish.
