GST Probe Wing Scrutinizes Papers of Industrialist Amitesh Sahay, Business Partner in Jamshedpur

Dhanbad, 13th Feb. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) investigation wing in Jamshedpur initiated assessments of GST documents linked to industrialist Amitesh Sahay and his business partner Shyam Sharma on Monday, officials confirmed.

Sahay, noted for his close ties with former chief minister Hemant Soren, also serves as the treasurer of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in Dhanbad, according to sources.

The investigation team commenced their proceedings in Dhanbad at 7 am, delving into GST payments until approximately 1:30 pm. Assessments were conducted at Sahay’s residence in Chiragora, under the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station, as well as at the factories of his business partner, JAI TMT, situated in Barbadda and Govindpur, officials revealed.

Following the completion of their assessments, the team departed for Jamshedpur in the afternoon, refraining from engaging with awaiting reporters.

It is noteworthy that Sahay recently organized the JMM’s 56th Foundation Day event at Golf Ground, graced by Chief Minister Champai Soren on February 4, officials added.
