Kolkata, 13th May. State Governor Jagdeep Dhankar is on Cooch Behar visit today to review the violence-affected people and area.

When asked about the post poll violence in West Bengal, Jagdeep Dhankhar said, “Four states and one union territory were elected. Why did the violence only occur in Bengal? Why was I not informed by the Government officials? I have decided that I would take all possible steps, which would encourage the people. ‘

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee yesterday reacted strongly to this visit of the Governor. Mamata said that the planned visit of Jagdeep Dhankhar to Cooch Behar district affected by violence after the election is a violation of the rules. She also said that you are constantly ignoring the advice of the Chief Minister which is not right.

On Friday (May 14), Dhankhar will visit Ranpagli and Shrirampur in Assam, where some people of West Bengal have taken shelter for security due to violence after the election. Rupagali is in Dhubri while Srirampur is in Kokrajhar. Both districts are adjacent to West Bengal.
