Pithoragarh, 9th June. Five youths, all near 16 years of age have died after they drown in the Saryu river near Ganai in the Gangoli hat area today.
“All the bodies were pulled out from the river with the help of local villages and revenue police personnel;” said BS Fonia SDM of Gangolihat subdivision.
The youths, who were returning from a marriage ceremony went for a bath in the river but they could not fathom the cold of the flooding river, which had swelled due to rain in the area recently, “said the officer.
According to the official source the youth have been identified as, Ravindra Kumar,(16), Salil Kumar(15), Mohit(16), Ramesh and Piyush both 15 years of age. “all the youths are residents of Kona Dhaulia ser village of Ganai Gangoli and belongs to SC category, “said the SDM.
