District administration begins preparation as the talks to resume flight operations begin in Pithoragarh

Pithoragarh, 26th June . Amid media reports on resumption of flight operations from Naini Saini airport in Pithoragarh the district administration has begun preparation to install the required facilities to the Airport, sources said.
The speculations to resume flights became rife after state cabinet minister and Didihat MLA, Bishan Singh Chufal in a statement said that he along with Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni, met union civil aviation minister Hardeep Puri in New Delhi last week and demanded resumption of flight operations from the Airport. “The minister has assured us to begin civic flights from airport after the monsoon is over,” said Chufal.
“The routine meeting of aerodrome committee has been conducted only a day before and have instructed the agencies concerned gear up by restoring all facilities required for any flight operation from or to the airport,” said Anand Swaroop, district magistrate and director of Pithoragarh Airport.

According to the Airport director, he has also instructed the officials restore the communication electric and security arrangements of the Airport.
“We have also conducted demonstration at Airport related to security system to avert any attempt of hijacking etc from the airport recently, “said the DM.
According to airport manager and SDM Pithoragarh SN Goswami, mock drill to avert hijacking efforts has also been done at airport last week. “We have also acquired the land of 4 houses that have been identified ats coming on way of takeoff and landing of the planes.” said Goswami.
The flights from Pithoragarh to Dehradun from the Airport began on January 17, 2019, which was followed by the flight to Ghaziabad from October 11 same year. The flights were stopped on March 20, 2020 after repeated accidents took place in the plane being run by a private company. “We have been assured by union civil aviation minister to introduce a 20 seated plane for the domestic flights from and to the airport, “said Chufal, the state cabinet minister.
