Delhi Lockdown Extended by a Week

New Delhi, 9th May. Chief Minister Arvind Kejariwal announced that the lockdown in Delhi is being extended for a week. The lockdown will remain in force until 5 am next Monday. Delhi Metro will be closed from tomorrow.

Kejriwal said that corona cases started decreasing in Delhi since April 26 and the positivity rate has come down from 35% to 23% in the last one or two days.

On Saturday, 17,364 cases of corona were reported and 332 people died in Delhi. There are less than 18 thousand cases in Delhi after 22 days. There has been a steady decline in the number of daily infected for the last 5 days.

According to the Health Department, the total number of infected people in Delhi now stands at 13 lakh 10 thousand 231. Of these, 12 lakh 3 thousand 253 people have recovered. A total of 19 thousand 71 people have died. Even though the cases of infection are declining, the cases of daily death are not decreasing yet. With this, the death rate from Corona in Delhi has increased to 1.46%.
