Defence Ministry Ordered Reinstatement of 400 Retired Army Doctors

New Delhi, 10th May. In an order issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Defence ordered the Armed Forces Medical Service (AFMS) to reinstate 400 doctors retired from the Army Medical Corps and Short Service Commission. The order asks for the reinstatement of former military service officers for 11 months on contractual basis.

In the second wave of Corona, India has been badly affected and there is a severe shortage of health workers, oxygen medicines and beds in hospitals in many states.

The Defence Ministry order states that the doctors retired between 2017 and 2021 under the Tour of Duty Scheme should be reinstated on contract. These medical officers will be given a fixed amount on a monthly basis
