Bhubaneshwar, 8th May. Covaxin production will start in Odisha by June next year. This was revealed during the review of Bharat Biotech’s proposed plant construction progress. The state government has already announced all possible assistance to Bharat Biotech to set up a covaxin plant in Andharua area of Bhubaneswar.
In a high level review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, IPICOL and IDCO have been instructed to cooperate in plant construction work. In this unit of Bharat Biotech, besides effective covaxin to fight the coronavirus, malaria and other drugs can also be produced.
Chairman of IDCO, Sanjay Singh said that we are able to immediately provide 28,000 sq ft of space for the incubation unit to Bharat Biotech in the Infocity-2 area. We can allocate space for the vaccine production unit here. In this way, Odisha is expected to produce Covaxin by 2022.
