Lucknow, 12th August.
In a decisive political move ahead of the upcoming assembly by-polls in Uttar Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati declared on Sunday that her party will contest all ten constituencies up for election. The announcement came via a post on X (formerly Twitter), following a high-level meeting with party officials where the decision was made.

Mayawati revealed that candidates for the Phulpur and Manjhawa seats have already been announced.

During the meeting, she launched a sharp critique of both the central and Uttar Pradesh governments, accusing them of engaging in “bulldozer politics” and fueling religious tensions to divert attention from critical issues such as inflation, unemployment, and social inequalities.
She also condemned the government’s alleged interference in the administration of mosques, madrasas, and Waqf properties.

The BSP is expected to leverage the Supreme Court’s decision on reservation as a key issue in the by-elections, potentially galvanizing support from voters concerned with social justice.

The meeting, which included senior party officials and district presidents from the Uttar Pradesh State Party Unit, focused on the party’s strategy for the by-polls and reviewed the progress on previous directives aimed at broadening the party’s appeal.

Mayawati urged party members to commit fully to the campaign, emphasizing that BSP’s success would advance the cause of the underprivileged and exploited.

She emphasized the party’s motto, ‘bahujan hitaya, bahujan sukhay’ (welfare for all), and called on officials to work with dedication to ensure the party’s success in the forthcoming elections.
