BRO builds 170 long bridge to connect 150 villages in Pithoragarh district

Pithoragarh, 21st July. Border roads organization today linked  over 150 villages of the three high himalayan valleys of Darma, Vyas and Chaundas, alone with sensitive security posts at Indo china border, with rest of the world  by constructing  a  170 feet long Bailey bridge at Kulagar   on Pithoragarh -Tawaghat motor road. Sources said.

The 48 feet long concrete bridge situated at the place was washed away on July 8, this year.

“We have started construction of 170 feet long Bailey bridge at Kulagar on July 15, and completed it on July 20, the bridge has now been opened for public.”said MNV prasad,chief engineer of project Hirak of BRO.

“the construction was big challenge to us as we had to cut 40 feet back space in the vertical cliff in hard rock to make space for the bridge, besides gathering material from our several units spread around 250 km in the region.”said  the chief engineer.

According to SDM Dharchula  with construction of the bridge in short time the villagers residing in all 3 valleys of Darma, Vyans and Chaudans will be resumed with transportation.”It will also link security posts at Indo china border with rest of the world with vehicular transportation.”said the SDM.
