New Delhi, 24th May.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has slammed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s delayed response to the alleged assault on AAP’s Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal, terming it as “too little too late.” The remarks came in the wake of Kejriwal’s recent comments on the need for a fair investigation into the incident.

Swati Maliwal was reportedly assaulted by Kejriwal’s personal assistant Bibhav Kumar at the CM’s residence on May 13, leading to Kumar’s subsequent arrest.

Senior BJP leaders took jabs at Kejriwal’s assertion that he has no intention of becoming the next prime minister, interpreting it as indicative of a weak government under the INDIA bloc. Union Minister Piyush Goyal slammed Kejriwal’s delayed response and accused him of protecting the accused for an extended period.

Goyal further lambasted Kejriwal’s leadership, alleging corruption and failure in governance. He questioned the credibility of the INDIA bloc, emphasizing the BJP-led NDA’s strong performance in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami joined in the criticism, denouncing the opposition bloc as “anti-women” and highlighting the potential instability of a government led by Kejriwal’s coalition.

Dhami echoed Goyal’s sentiment, suggesting that Kejriwal’s comments hint at a fractured leadership within the opposition bloc, which could result in frequent changes in prime ministership and a weakened government.

The BJP’s scathing response shows the escalating political tensions surrounding the assault case and the broader electoral landscape as the Lok Sabha polls progress.
