Udhampur, 20th June: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday declared that “Operation Sindoor is proof that New India is assertive, resolute and will no longer be a victim of terrorism, but respond with strength and strategy.” He was addressing soldiers at the Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir, where he praised the Armed Forces and intelligence agencies for their precise execution of the high-impact counter-terror operation.
Hailing the mission as a turning point, Singh noted that India’s change in policy towards terrorism stems from the unmatched valour and dedication of its soldiers. “Operation Sindoor is not just a military response but a strong message to terrorists and their supporters that India will not tolerate any threats to its unity and integrity,” he stated. Emphasizing its ongoing nature, the Defence Minister added, “Operation Sindoor is not over yet—this is just a pause. I want to tell this to my neighbouring country.”
Singh underlined the sacrifices made by India’s soldiers and reiterated the nation’s gratitude. “The life of a soldier is defined by courage and sacrifice. The country will always remain indebted to your service,” he said.
Participating in a Barakhana event held on the eve of International Day of Yoga 2025, the Defence Minister urged troops to maintain both physical and mental fitness. “If you are strong, our borders will be strong. When borders are strong, India will be strong,” he remarked.
The event featured cultural performances including the Khukri Dance, Bhangra, Kalari Pattu and Jhanz Patak, celebrating India’s diverse martial heritage. Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, and other senior officials were also present.
