Sivasubramanian Ramann Assumes Charge as PFRDA Chairperson

New Delhi, 20th June: Sivasubramanian Ramann has officially taken over as the Chairperson of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) today. His appointment, notified by the Government of India on April 8, 2025, is for a tenure of five years from the date he assumes charge, or until he turns 65, whichever is earlier.

A 1991-batch officer of the Indian Audit & Accounts Service (IA&AS), Shri Ramann brings with him a distinguished career in public finance and financial regulation. Prior to this role, he served as Deputy Comptroller & Auditor General and Chief Technology Officer in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

His previous leadership roles include serving as Chairman and Managing Director of the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), MD & CEO of National E-Governance Services Ltd. (NeSL), and Principal Accountant General of Jharkhand. Between 2006 and 2013, he also held key roles at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), including Chief General Manager and Executive Director.

Ramann holds a BA in Economics and an MBA from the University of Delhi. He has multiple advanced qualifications, including an MSc in Financial Regulation from the London School of Economics, an LLB, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Securities Law. He is also a Certified Internal Auditor and a certified Chief Digital Officer from ISB.

With a robust background spanning governance, technology, and financial systems, Shri Ramann is expected to steer PFRDA toward further strengthening India’s pension architecture and ensuring wider retirement coverage for citizens.
