New Delhi, 1st Jan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired the 50th meeting of PRAGATI, marking a major milestone in a decade-long journey of technology-driven, cooperative and outcome-oriented governance.

Describing PRAGATI as central to sustaining reform momentum and ensuring delivery, the Prime Minister said the PRAGATI-led ecosystem has helped accelerate projects worth over ₹85 lakh crore across the country.

Major Reviews in PRAGATI@50
During the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed five critical infrastructure projects spanning the road, railways, power, water resources and coal sectors across five states, with a cumulative cost exceeding ₹40,000 crore.

Reviewing the PM SHRI schools scheme, Modi stressed that the initiative must become a national benchmark for holistic and future-ready education. He urged Chief Secretaries to closely monitor implementation, make PM SHRI schools role models for other state schools and conduct field evaluations to ensure outcome-oriented delivery.

Breaking Silos, Boosting Delivery
Recalling the genesis of PRAGATI, Modi said it was inspired by Gujarat’s SWAGAT platform, which he had introduced as Chief Minister for time-bound grievance redressal. Since 2014, PRAGATI has reviewed 377 projects, resolving 94 per cent of identified issues, significantly reducing delays and cost overruns.

He noted that several long-pending national projects were unlocked and completed through PRAGATI, including the Bogibeel Bridge in Assam, the Jammu–Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla rail link, the Navi Mumbai International Airport and major thermal power and steel modernisation projects.

Calling PRAGATI an example of cooperative federalism, Modi said it breaks silo-based functioning by bringing Centre and State governments on a single platform for problem-solving and execution.

Reform–Perform–Transform
Outlining his vision for the next phase, Modi shared his mantra — “Reform to simplify, Perform to deliver, Transform to impact.” He said reforms must focus on simplifying procedures, performance must emphasise time, cost and quality, and transformation must be measured by citizens’ ease of living.

PRAGATI and Viksit Bharat 2047
The Prime Minister said PRAGATI is a powerful accelerator for achieving Viksit Bharat @ 2047, urging states to institutionalise PRAGATI-like mechanisms, especially in the social sector at the Chief Secretary level.

He concluded that PRAGATI@50 is not just a milestone but a renewed commitment to faster execution, higher quality and measurable citizen-centric outcomes.
