New Delhi, 21st March: Zomato has increased its platform fee to ₹14.90 per order (pre-GST), up from ₹12.50 earlier, making food delivery slightly more expensive for users across India.
The revised fee is being implemented nationwide across all markets where Zomato operates, marking the company’s latest price adjustment since its previous hike in September last year.
Rival Swiggy currently charges ₹14.99 per order, inclusive of GST, keeping it broadly in line with Zomato’s updated pricing.
However, magicpin, the third-largest player in the segment, has chosen not to increase its platform fee, which stands at ₹14.20 per order.
Magicpin CEO Anshoo Sharma said the company is holding prices steady to support restaurant partners and maintain affordability for customers amid rising operational costs.
The hike comes at a time when delivery platforms are facing increasing pressure from rising fuel prices linked to ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Higher logistics and operational costs are expected to continue impacting pricing strategies across the sector.
With this move, ordering food online will become marginally costlier for millions of users, as platforms recalibrate their pricing to manage rising expenses.
