Mumbai, 24th Oct. Bandra East MLA Zeeshan Siddique has slammed Shiv Sena (UBT) for its decision to field a candidate in his constituency for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections.
Siddique, who has been suspended from the Congress party for cross-voting during recent legislative council elections, stated that unity among former allies has never been their strong suit.
Despite the recent passing of his father, Baba Siddique, who was shot dead earlier this month and had switched from Congress to the NCP earlier this year, Zeeshan has yet to clarify his political stance.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he remarked, “Heard old friends have announced their candidate from Bandra East. Staying together was never in their nature. Have a relationship with only those who give you respect.” He added that it is now up to the people to make their choice.
The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) announced its first list of candidates on Wednesday, naming Varun Sardesai as their nominee for Bandra East. Elections for the 288-member Maharashtra assembly are scheduled for November 20, with the vote counting set for November 23.
